Earlier this year, I submitted a piece for David Bohn’s Toy Piano 100 Project, which was seeking new works of 100 or fewer notes for toy piano. My submission, titled Shantytown, was accepted and recorded alongside many other interesting, fun, and quirky submissions.
Shantytown is inspired by an abandoned piano in a side room; out of tune and in a state of inevitable decay. It is passed up by most, who decide to let it be, although the occasional passerby cannot help but explore its once familiar, now failing, voice.
I enjoyed putting the work together and hope that you all enjoy listening as well. Listen below and here is a link to the full playlist of works.
